Saturdays

Saturdays. Lets just say I really look forward to the weekends! Everyone does, right? But I look forward to the weekend in a whole different way now that we have a child. Having Joel home to help and just be around to play with Maya is a breath of fresh air for me. It charges me up enough so that when Monday morning comes I think ok I can make it through another week.

But today Joel had the opportunity to go do what he LOVES. It was his great passion long before I came into the picture. He was able to keep up with it pretty well when it was just the two of us. However, since Maya came along I can count on one hand the number of times he’s been able to go. For those of you that don’t know Joel loves to ride his motocross bike. There are only a few tracks that he can go to around here and today he went with a co-worker somewhere in Illinois. So Maya helped Daddy get his bike ready for the big ride.

Yes as you can see in the pics were are still dealing with her BFF the paci but our goal is to have her addicted to something else that isn't too harmful by the end of the summer. We keep telling her the other babies need her pacis so we'll keep you posted on that whole issue in the future weeks ahead.

So anyway since it was just the two of us hanging out today we decided to meet some friends at the zoo. It was a bit steamy but we had fun. The bears were out and one was taking a dip in the water.

And I think Maya and Nonie were looking at goats here. I love this pic! It's just too cute. They were also able to ride the train and carousel together but I didn't get any good pics of that.

We had a great time and one tired out and sweaty little girl. She was trying so hard to stay awake or rather I was trying really hard to keep her awake on the way home. I wanted her to nap at home!

Welcome to our family blog!

Welcome to Family InSeitz! I know kind of a cheesy name but kind of fun too. First let me say I am not a writer! My mom revised and edited my papers all through high school and college and will probably cringe at some of the things I post here. I’ll also add that I’m a horrible speller. However, over the past year I’ve wished I had a place to post pictures, thoughts, and InSeitz about our family. A place to post experiences that I hope I won’t forget as time passes on. Over the past couple of months I’ve had several people ask me if I blog and if I don’t why not. It was enough to get me thinking. Here’s my answer. I wasn't blogging because I’m a pretty private person. I don’t like sharing all my personal junk. I also don’t want to assume that anyone else cares or wants to know about all the stuff happening in our lives. But this really is for me and our family and at 35 I shouldn’t really care what others think about what I write or post anyway.

So here we go…

I wish I would have started this the first few weeks that Maya was born. There is so much I could have captured here and shared with our extended family and friends. Not that I want to assume that any of them care or wants to know this stuff but you never know. Anyway I tried my best to keep a journal but didn’t share the day to day stuff. I just wrote down the general month to month happenings. Like I didn’t capture the exact day of her first smile, or her first tooth, or when she started eating bananas, or when she finally slept through the night. Oh wait yes I do remember that! She was TEN months old and I remember feeling like I was a brand new woman that first morning after getting almost 7 straight hours of sleep. There was light at the end of a very dark tunnel. Sleeping is still an issue but I’ll save that for another post.

So our big girl or not so big girl is TWO already! How did this happen?
We had her two year doctor appointment today and here are her stats:
Height: 32.5" which is at 15% (This is a huge jump because at 18 months she was at 2% for height.)
Weight: 27.2 lbs which is at 54%.
The Doctor said she is growing and developing just fine.

She is a little peanut! Everyone always thinks she is about 18 months or so and I always explain nope she just turned two. But I should not be too surprised. I dealt with this my whole life. Not so much anymore now that I’m in my mid thirties but just as recent as 27 – yes TWENTY SEVEN  - I was offered a children’s menu. Yes you read that right! So I’m afraid my child doesn’t have much of a chance in this area either. But maybe she’ll surprise us. I’m not complaining. In this day an age when 12 year olds are looking like 20 year olds I’d much rather have my daughter look young for her age any day!
