Sitting Up

Cora can sit up all by herself! All the sudden she was just doing it on her own. We didn't even really practice with her at all. About a week or so ago I just tried sitting her on the floor by herself and she did just fine with out any help. Don't get me wrong she'll tip over every once in awhile but overall she's doing pretty well. She's getting so big! And I'm not quite sure how I feel about that.

Tasty Toes

Someone has found something else interesting to put in her mouth...her toes.

Sweethearts

Happy Valentine's Day from these two sweethearts!

Maya had a little Valentine's day party at school on Wednesday and she came home with tons of Valentine's and candy. I kind of forgot how fun Valentine's day is for kids! And wow some kids went all out with their Valentine's. This mama kept it simple with a good old fashioned store bought Valentine with a gummy candy heart attached to it and Maya thought they were just great!

6 month Dr Appt.

Cora had her 6 month check up on Monday and she's growing like a weed. She weighs 16.8 lbs and is 26 1/4 inches long. At 6 months Maya weighed 17.6 lbs and was 25 inches long. Both little chunks at 6 months! We need to start introducing more baby food and pretty soon Cora will be able to do soft table foods. So crazy we are already talking about her eating table foods. We need to work with her a little bit more on rolling over. She can do it but gets stuck and certainly likes being on her back way more than her tummy. She can sit up by herself for just a few seconds before falling over. She loves grabbing for her feet. Cora is chatting more and likes making little gurgle sounds. Everything goes into her mouth and she loves chewing on anything. Separation anxiety has begun and she is certainly a mama's girl. We have started to leave her in the nursery for church and my mom's groups and she lets us know she's not quite sure about that. For the most part she is sleeping through the night. She had a few weeks recently where she was waking up but she is doing good now and we are hoping that was just a little phase that has passed. The past 6 months have gone by so fast! I feel like it's gone way faster than it did with Maya.

Curly Hair Buddies

Tabitha came to visit us this weekend and we had so much fun! It had been way too long since we had seen her. Maya and Tabitha are good buddies and love that they both have curly hair. Maya was very excited that Tabitha helped "do" her hair on Saturday and put some product in it to make it even more curly. I think last time she introduced Maya to pigtails. And she will never let me even get close to doing her hair so I was happy that it actually looked nice for one day.

Cora had fun with Tabitha too!
We were lucky to get away Saturday night just us gals and have some wine and dessert together. We were well overdue for some time to chat and catch up. So thankful for friends that even as seasons of life change the friendship remains. It's been 19 years since we've known each other and 15 years since we moved out to Chicago from Iowa together. Crazy!

Santa in February?

I thought I was bad for not taking down my Christmas decorations until mid January. However, there is a HUGE Santa that a house in our neighborhood puts up in their front lawn for Christmas and it is still up! I have a little backseat driver that asks literally every time we drive somewhere if we can drive by the Santa. So for the last 3 months we have been driving by this house. As you can see from the pic below it seriously is huge and is as tall as the house!  It has kind of turned into a joke now and we are taking bets on when we will drive by and Santa will finally be gone. But for now we'll continue to drive by...as long as he is still there.

6 months

Cora is 6 months old today! No way! August seems like forever ago but it also seems like just yesterday. How is that possible? So strange. And it's hard to believe that in the next 6 months there will be crazy amounts of change in terms of crawling, maybe walking, hearing some words like mama and dada, eating table food. All that happens in the first year is amazing.

We are a little slow at our house when it comes to introducing baby food. I think I waited until 7 months with Maya because I wanted to get through the holidays without having to deal with baby food because once you start there is no going back. Well we started cereal with Cora this week and she is doing great. At first she wasn't quite sure what was going on but she has quickly gotten the hang of it. Maya loves to watch and even help feed her. We go to the Dr. on Monday so we will see what she says and find out how she is progressing and growing.
