DIY Painting

For those of you that know me I am not a DIY, crafty, fixer upper type person. Most of the houses that we looked at before we saw this one needed a ton of work! And we just knew we weren't those type of people. This house was pretty much updated except for the girls bathroom upstairs which we'll need to tackle at some point. But everything else was either fine leaving as is or just needed some updated painting. Earlier this summer I helped a friend paint a few of her bedrooms and I thought hey I think I can maybe do some DIY painting in our house. The two major rooms that needed some updating were the half bath on the main floor and the dining room.

Here is a pic of the half bath before it was painted. It was super textured,  kind of sponge painted gold and white. And there were lovely circle mirrors stuck to the wall.

Here is an after pic of the half bath. A bit more fresh and updated! It's so hard to pick out colors and what the color looks like in the can or on part of a wall versus the whole room is so different a lot of the time. But overall I'm happy with the way it turned out. And who knows in a few years we can paint it a different color if we get tired of it. That's the beauty of paint, right?

The dining room was red! Joel wanted to keep it and turn it into an Ohio State Buckeye dining room theme but I wasn't really agreeing to that. Here is a before pic of the dining room.
Here is an after pic. Once again picking out colors is so hard. I wanted a grey but it ended up being a bit more bluish grey than I wanted but it looks fresh a bit more updated and a ton better than the bright red. And yes we still have a few boxes to unpack as you can see but we are slowly getting settled.
