100 days smarter

Maya had her 100th day of school celebration yesterday. I think the actual 100th day of school was last week but yesterday was the day to celebrate it. Each student had to decorate themselves in 100 things. Maya wanted to wear "100 ponytail holders" Yikes! Originally she wanted braids and 100 ponytail holders. So Wednesday after school we did a trial run with 10 braids and 10 ponytail holders in each braid. This is what it looked like.

Then yesterday morning she decided she just wanted one ponytail and all the ponytail holders in one ponytail. Honestly this was way less time intensive but then of course when it was time to leave for school she wanted the braids. I tried to remain calm and told her that we didn't have enough time to do braids. She was not happy but we needed to head out the door for school.

She also had to bring a snack of 100 pieces and she wanted to bring 100 pieces of Captain Crunch. All the students in her class then made a mix of the items they brought. A very exciting day for the first graders! It was also "spirit day" at school so everyone was suppose to wear their blue BCS shirts and they ended the day with an all school pep-rally. I think they had a very fun week at school this week! And now we have today and Monday off for a little winter break. We'll see what we can come up with to fill our days.

100 days smarter! Maya is loving first grade!
